We’re glad you stopped by! We started The Woodlands Community Garden in the summer of 2009, just a rag tag bunch of friends and neighbors in West Philadelphia who had at least one thing in common; the desire to create more community gardening space in our neighborhood. With help from UC Green, we connected with the lovely people at The Woodlands Cemetery and Trust who agreed to let us cultivate part of their land and grow a community of gardeners. Because of our talented group of gardeners and our wonderful community partners (UC Green, Sawbell Lumber, Bartram’s Garden, Penn State Cooperative Extension, and beekeeper Daniel Duffy), The Woodlands Community Garden now has 19 garden plots, over 40 gardeners, many beehives, a picnic table, a shed, a three bin compost system, and a rain garden!
We also occasionally host workshops, talks, gatherings, concerts, and work days in the garden, so please check out the Calendar page to see what’s coming up this month.
